Objective:
Frank Wolf, co-founder of Staffbase, wrote The Narrative Age to explain the importance of narratives to leaders who may underestimate the impact they can have on their business in the polarized society of today.
In the cover design, our aim was to represent the concept of a narrative and how they are built up of multiple layered stories that shape our beliefs over time.
The objectives for the interior spreads of the book was first and foremost to be clean, readable, and understandable to readers. We didn't want the design to feel dense and overly academic, but to align with the typical business books that our target audience would typically have on their office shelves. Frank is also a big proponent of AI. Something that was important to him in the design was that we incorporate artwork generated through DALL-E in at the beginning of each chapter.
Design Solution:
The end design was a great success in both the eyes of Frank and Staffbase and has been promoted at events across Europe and North America since its publication in April 2024. The cover fits well in the genre of business/communications books, while still feeling unique and engaging enough to stand out. The book is set in Adobe Caslon Pro for it's readability and familiarity with readers. The book is available for purchase here in hardcover, paperback, or ebook format.
